MATELEC and TELEMATEL drive the first study into digital transformation in the electrical installation and lighting sector

MATELEC is conducting Spain’s first ever survey into the degree of digitisation of companies in the electrical installation and lighting sectors. The survey has been designed by TELEMATEL. The survey looks at manufacturers, distributors and installation companies and is designed to ascertain to what extent our industrial community has been digitised.

The survey findings will be revealed at an event entitled “Digital Matters” organised by TELEMATEL, in collaboration with MATELEC, which will take place on 14 November at MATELEC’s Forum 7, during the 19th International Trade Fair for the Electrical and Electronics Industry. The Fair, organised by IFEMA, will take place from 13 to 16 November 2018 at Feria de Madrid, under the ePower&Building umbrella, with the slogan “Transforming the way we build a Green World”. ePower&Building also includes trade fairs MATELEC LIGHTING, CONSTRUTEC, BIMEXPO, ARCHISTONE and VETECO, and is held on the same dates as MATELEC INDUSTRY.

With this study, MATELEC contributes to generating knowledge on the digital status and maturity of the sector, accompanying it in its transformation and creating knowledge spaces on aspects of greatest interest to professionals and companies.”, said Raúl Calleja, manager of MATELEC. Executives in the sector need practical, easy-to-understand information about digital transformation. They want to know what it will mean to them, and how it can help them with decision-making, which is why we have created Digital Matters. Nine in ten manufacturers see digital transformation as critical, and distributors will have three times more online customers within two years. The challenges are far-reaching and pressing, added Fede de Gispert, director of Marketing at TELEMATEL. However, installers are less receptive to change, since the market is still very distant in comparison to other European countries.

In this regard, the following questions will be tackled: How is digital transformation evolving in our sector? Which projects are getting results? What are the keys to change? Which factors have an impact on progress? What is stopping us from facing them?

Digital Matters will offer specific answers to these questions at MATELEC. It will do so in collaboration with digital change and e-commerce experts from ABM Rexel, Genebre, Solostocks, Philips Lighting, BigMat Garro, eBay for business, Habitissimo and RS Components, among others. These experts will talk about actions, results and lessons learned that lead to success.
